Day Two of IFAC Connect Highlights Regional Session on the Value of Professional Accountancy Organizations with 80 Experts in Attendance

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The second day of the IFAC Connect Forum, hosted in Riyadh by the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA), featured a dedicated session that brought together more than 80 experts from professional bodies, regulators, and academic institutions across the Middle East and North Africa to explore the growing role of professional accountancy organizations in advancing the profession.

The session opened with welcoming remarks from SOCPA CEO Dr. Ahmad Almeghames, setting the stage for three key discussions. The first focused on the importance of professional accountancy organizations as trusted partners in driving national priorities such as transparency, capacity building, and sound public financial management. Participants also examined “Partner Readiness” indicators and practical approaches to measuring impact and strengthening credibility with stakeholders.

The second discussion introduced IFAC’s Value Framework, a practical tool designed to help professional organizations clearly define their purpose, communicate the services they deliver, and demonstrate their contribution to both the profession and the wider community.

The program concluded with an interactive group exercise, where participants worked in teams to refine value statements, share challenges, and propose actionable solutions. The findings were presented at the close of the session, offering a roadmap for reinforcing the value and influence of professional accountancy organizations across the region and beyond.
