As part of the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants’ (SOCPA) efforts to support and develop accounting talent, SOCPA announced figures reflecting its work in professional training and certification during the first half of 2025. A total of 6,284 trainees participated across the public and private sectors in the first half of 2025 (H1 2025).
SOCPA also delivered 91 training courses on topics related to the accounting and auditing profession, as part of its efforts to develop and upskill accounting talent, contributing effectivelyto empowering the national economy and achieving the Human Capability Development Program targets under Saudi Vision 2030.
SOCPA devoted significant effort to launching new training programs that meet objectives and raise workforce competence in line with Saudi market needs. In H1 2025, SOCPA rolled out 9 new programs: the Readiness (Jahizyah) Program;Financial Accounting Intensive Track; Non-current Non-financial Assets; Supplementary Reporting and Performance Evaluation in the Public Sector; Financial Assets and Liabilities in the Public Sector; Consolidation of Financial Statements; Public Budget Preparation - Intermediate Level; Public Budget Preparation - Advanced Level; and, finally, Financial Risk Management in the Public Sector.
On professional certifications, SOCPA recorded rising demand in H1 2025 with 9,119 exam applicants across its certificates. The Fellowship Exam topped the list with 4,989 applicants, followed by the VAT Specialist Exam with 2,081, then the Certified Accounting Technician Exam with 1,582. A total of 379 candidates applied for the Financial Fraud Examiner Exam, while 88 applicants registered for the Public Sector Accounting Standards Exam.
This demand comes as SOCPA continuously seeks to improve professional qualification procedures and enhance practitioner competency. The organization continuously develops its professional certification system, including restructuring the Fellowship exam, which will be implemented in its new format starting from the third sitting of 2025.
SOCPA affirmed it will continue to deliver qualification and specialized programs and accredit professional certificates that align with international standards and respond to economic shifts, enhancing national talent readiness and supporting the national economy.
